Schools in Okanagan Landing

If you’re moving to the Landing with kids or grandkids, the school question comes right after “is it on the water?” The short answer: most of Okanagan Landing is served by Okanagan Landing Elementary, then Clarence Fulton Secondary. Here’s what that means, how buses work, and how to register when you arrive.

Okanagan Landing Elementary

Okanagan Landing Elementary sits at 7322 Grant Road, overlooking Okanagan Lake. In the 2025/26 school year it had about 280 students from Kindergarten to Grade 7. It has a Seamless Day Kindergarten and an after-school care program, which helps if both parents work.

The school describes parent involvement as very active. The Parent Advisory Committee meets in person, with invitations sent to parents every month. It has raised money for playground equipment and computers, supports extracurricular activities, and organizes hot-lunch options each week.

On the district’s catchment map, the Okanagan Landing Elementary area takes in the Landing along the lakeshore of the Vernon arm. Homes near its edges, toward Bella Vista and Tronson Road at the north end, are the ones to double-check, since the neighbouring Ellison Elementary catchment reaches out toward Tronson Road near the airport.

Clarence Fulton Secondary

On the district’s catchment maps, Okanagan Landing falls in the Clarence Fulton Secondary area for Grades 8 to 12. The school is in Vernon, set in about 30 acres of parkland along Vernon Creek, with Grahame Park around it for baseball, soccer, rugby, football, sand volleyball and outdoor basketball. Students moved into the current building in 1993; the school itself goes back to Vernon High School in 1937.

Clarence Fulton Secondary: 2301 Fulton Road, Vernon. Phone 250-545-1348.

French immersion and other choices

School District 22 runs French immersion as a program of choice:

The district has five secondary schools and 14 elementary schools in all. If you’re looking at a program outside your catchment, read the district’s programs-of-choice information, and note that bus service isn’t guaranteed to out-of-catchment schools.

School buses

SD22 buses in-catchment students who live outside the 2.4 km walk limit, from bus stops to school. Every rider has to be registered and gets a bus pass that’s scanned on and off each day. Rider fees are paid online. Courtesy rides are offered only if a route works and there’s space, and bussing isn’t guaranteed to out-of-catchment schools. The district says bussing is under continual review.

Parents can follow the bus in real time with the MyRide K-12 app, from mid-August through June.

Registering when you move

For the 2026–27 school year, the district’s registration and transfer period ran January 15 to February 13, 2026. Registration for all students happens at your catchment school, and new registrations are accepted by appointment, so families moving in at other times of year book an appointment with that school.

  1. Enter your new address in the SD22 School Locator to find your catchment school.
  2. Book a registration appointment with that school.
  3. Bring your documents: the child’s birth certificate, the parent’s proof of Canadian citizenship or status (for example a Canadian passport, permanent resident card, work visa or study permit), the child’s B.C. Personal Health Number, and two proofs of residency.

Good news for buyers: a property purchase agreement is on the district’s list of accepted proofs of residency, along with a property tax notice, a utility bill and others. So you may be able to start registration before you’ve moved in.

Families coming from out of province will also need a B.C. Personal Health Number for the child; see Buying from outside B.C. for the moving checklist.

After the bell

The Landing is a good place to grow up outside. Paddlewheel Park has a sandy beach, playground, basketball, tennis and beach volleyball courts, and the park is wheelchair accessible. Kin Beach is a short ride north, and Ellison Provincial Park, south past the Outback, has three main swimming beaches with buoyed swim areas (no lifeguards on duty). See Life in the Landing for more.
